Overview

   The Faculty of Information Technology and Computer Sciences was established in 2002 as the result of the increased demand for highly skilled graduates in Information Technology. It has roots in the Department of Computer Sciences (previously part of the Faculty of Science), one of the oldest departments of its kind in this area of Jordan.

The new faculty comprises the following departments, each of which offers a separate study plan leading to a B.Sc. degree:

A master’s program in Computer Sciences is also offered by Yarmouk University. An agreement with the University of Sunderland has been established to run Joint Graduate Programs leading to a M.Sc. degree in

In case of an interim exit from the program, students have the option of obtaining a post graduate certificate or post graduate diploma.

The faculty consists of efficient and dedicated staff, committed to applying the highest possible standards in teaching and educating students. At present there are 24 faculty members and 31 administrative staff. Courses have been designed with the aim of offering a good mix between theory and practice. 

 

College Vision and Mission


The Faculty of Information Technology & Computer Sciences seeks to be recognized for its ability to graduate information technology professionals who aim for serving the community and leverage the Jordanian workforce with IT knowledge and skills needed for sustainable development. It views its graduates as being in a leading position to bridge the gap between the university and the Jordanian community. Building our competency upon qualified faculty and staff, the faculty seeks to be one of the national outlets for research and community service.


The faculty’s mission integrates three main dimensions that are vital to the educational area: teaching and learning excellence combined with prestigious and rigorous research for serving the Jordanian community. Our mission is to provide the community with competent and relevant graduates at both the undergraduate and graduate levels. With a changing discipline, our graduates should fill the gap between the ICT sector and community needs. Also, research in the ICT sector is a crucial factor in supporting economy, especially in an IT adaptive society. Thus, through teaching and research we serve our local and regional community by utilizing the maximum return of financial and human resources.
