The Faculty of Information Technology and Computer Sciences (FITACS) was founded in the year 2002/2003, through his Majesty's initiative in support of the information and communication technology sector (ICT). The establishment of FITACS came as a needed step towards coping with the vast and fast developments in the IT sector and in response to the huge demand for information technology studies.
The Department of Computer Sciences was established in 1978 and started offering a B.Sc. degree in Computer Sciences in 1980. At the beginning of the academic year 2002/2003 the Faculty of Information Technology and Computer Sciences was established, and the Department of Computer Sciences was moved to this new faculty.
The Department of Computer Information Systems (CIS) was established in the academic year 2002/2003 as part of the Faculty of Information Technology and Computer Sciences. The department offers a bachelor degree in CIS which provides promising employment opportunities in business, industry and the area of Information Technology.
The Management Information Systems (MIS) department was established in the academic year 2002/2003 offering a Bachelor’s degree in MIS. The MIS program is designed to equip graduates with the technical and managerial knowledge and skills necessary to analyze, design, develop, implement, and manage information and information systems in organizations.
The High Education Diploma (HED) is the first programme of its kind in Jordan and the Arab Region. It is offered by CADER in cooperation with INHOLLAND University/The Netherlands, Delft University of Technology/The Netherlands and Yarmouk University/Jordan. The Diploma was locally tailor-made and developed and was approved by the Ministry of Higher Education..
